SWARNA PRASHANA

Swarnaprashana is one of the 16 essential samskaras described for improving the overall health of children.

Swarnabhasma is used in nanoparticles. As it is rasayana, wherever used it enhances the properties of other drugs.

It is an age-old Vedic immunization technique where in shodhit swarna bhasma combined with herbal drugs vacha, brahmi with honey, and ghee are administered.

Swarna (gold) undergoes shodhana (purification) as mentioned in our texts and becomes swarna bhasma (fine powder) and is used in various formulations in Ayurveda. Its properties are mentioned in the classical text as,

  • Rejuvenator
  • Memory booster
  • Immunomodulator etc.

Contents of Swarnaprashana

  •  Vacha (Acorns Calamus)    : It is medhya (immunomodulator) with antioxidants.
  •  Brahmi (Bacopa Monnieri): It is a memory enhancer with antioxidants.
  •  Madhu: Honey is yogavahi, and promotes health and intelligence.
  •  Grita: Medicated ghee improves digestive strength, and boosts immunity, intelligence, memory, and lifespan.

Dosage

  • Daily dose for 6 months in 1st year – Boosts Immunity of the child.
  • Monthly dose for a minimum of 24 months and can be continued up to the age of 16 years.
